All serious Beybladers use this combination in tournaments as they can win battles easily without much skill or launch power. With zombie Beyblades the part tuning side of things is more important than the actually launch style, power or skill. So this combination was widely used by beginners and experts alike. At lot of Beybladers would usually enter a tournament with at least one Zombie Beyblade and further customize it depending on the situation. The Zombie Beyblades are designed to maximise the ability of stealing spin from it opponents. This is done by using parts that are as close to a perfect circular shape and that create the least amount of friction with the air. It achieves this by using the tuned NSK shield bearings and a free spinning shaft. By tuning the NSK bearings, the friction between the weight of the Beyblade and and the stadium surface is greatly reduced. In order to steal spin, the opponents Beyblade has to be spinning in the opposite direction to the Zombie.
Zombie customizations should be launched by using a straight shoot as this reduces the damage made to the shaft, which if damaged can significantly reduce it performance. By using a straight shoot, the blade can establishes balance early in the battle. Light zombie customizations have a very low defence but perform very well in a large stadium as there is a reduced risk of being knocked out. However, if you are expecting to face an attacking customization then you may want to use Wolborg 2's shaft as the rubber grip provides your zombie with a bit more defence. A zombie customization is a Beyblade that has the features of being able to steal spin and continue to spin after it has fallen over.
Below I have included a description of the two features mentioned above:
- Spin Stealing: The whole purpose of Zombie combinations is to out-spin your opponents, they are therefore created in such a way so as they can effectively steal spin, however, this does still not mean that your zombie will win. Zombies are not able to spin for long on their own so hence why they use the spin stealing to effectively keep themselves spinning. In order to steal spin they must have what is called an NSK shield bearing and a free spinning shaft, the NSK shield bearing has to be tuned for spin stealing to be of any use. A link to this can be found at the end of the article. Below are an example of parts that effectively steal spin or help the process of stealing spin:
Attack Ring(s):
Wing Cross (right spin only)
Twin Horn
Bearing Gyros
Weight Disk(s):
Wide Survivor
Wide Defense
Spin Gear(s):
Bearing Stinger + BB
Wolborg
Support Part(s) (if using MG series blade base):
Vortex Ape
Survivor Ring
- Life after Death: Realistically, when your opponent looses spin power your zombie blade will suffer to, hence why the battle will not show a clear winner as you blade will no longer be able to steal spin. To avoid this scenario the Zombie Beyblade must be able to spin after death, continue to spin after it has fallen over. This is especially useful when facing against an endurancer that is spinning in the same spin direction as the zombie. When a zombie is facing another zombie customization the tuning of the NSK will be put to the test, as the zombie that wins has the better tuned bearing shield. In order for the Beyblade to continue spinning the weight disk must be a complete or near complete circle and the attack ring should preferably be smaller than the weight disk, although for spin stealing to work at its best you can use an attack ring that slightly extends beyond the weight disk. The Wide Survivor weight Disk is the most commonly used for Zombie combinations as they provide the stronger life after death when combined with Bearing Stingers free spinning shaft.
Below are a list of parts that can be used for a Zombie combination. The parts listed make the best combinations, however there are alternatives but the quality of the Zombie blade is really reduced:
Attack Rings:
Jumping Base/Driger S (Hasbro release of Jumping Base as Takara released it as a stand alone blade base)
Ultimate Frostic Dranzer/Bistool (can only be used in right spin and the Hasbro version is preferred due to better durability)
Gabriel (Takara release only as they do not use the sub attack ring like the Hasbro release)
Bearing Gyros (highly recommended as it is the best attack ring to use)
Galeon
Weight Disks:
Wide Survivor (the best endurance and spin stealing weight disk available)
Wide Defense (this is heavier than survivor and is most commonly used when endurance must be weighed against defence)
Others can be used but are not advised for this combination. The standard 10 wide weight disk is not advised as the Life after Death feature will be virtually useless.
Spin Gears (casing has to be opposite spin direction to opponents):
Wolborg
Wolborg 2
Bearing Stinger
Burning Kerberous
Zeus CG + CEW (Takara version only and can only be used with engine gear bases. It can only be used in right spin)
Wolborg CG + CEW
The spin gears that are listed are the best to use, there are other free spinning shaft spin gears but they all lack in the required attributes for this type of combination.
Bearings:
Tuned NSK shield bearings (degrease the bearings then rotate them for several days)
Bases:
Wolborg
Wolborg 2 (good if you are going for a defensive zombie when faced against an attacker)
Bearing Stinger
Burning Kerberous
Zeus (can only be used with custom engine gear)
Wolborg 4 (can only be used with an engine gear)
Dragoon V2 (the rubber grip will need to be removed to accommodate the spring gear/shaft assembly)
Support Parts:
Vortex Ape
Survivor Ring (Can be found on the dark series of Dragoon, Dranzer, Draciel, Driger and Gaia Dragoon)
Blizzard Ortros
Dranzer V2
Overall these Beyblades are very effective against many opponents. However, as mentioned above the tuning of this customization is of high importance, the tuning overrules the skill of the blader. The shaft condition is very important for zombies because if damaged the blades condition can decrease and doesn't perform very well. The NSK shield bearings need to be looked after and tuned regularly as this part of the blade is what determines various factors of the blade such as it spin stealing effectiveness and how well it performs in a life after death experience. If the tip of the shaft is too worn out then it will become illegal under official rules (a sharp tip being worn to a flat tip).
